As we all get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family, I wanted to write how easy it is to click-&-help others in need. These websites allow you to click a button or a link and sponsors will then donate water, food or some sort of funding to charities across the world. Compared to many around the world, we have an abundance and using these sites will help your karma factor and they couldn’t be easier to use.
Ripple.org is a great website with a simple interface. Use it as your homepage and click on each picture (water, food, education and money) each day to help others in need. It also sports an embedded Google search bar near the bottom. If you search through Google, donations will also be made to support others. It’s a win-win…an easy site to use and you’ll feel better about helping others.
If you are a Firefox user, you can add Ripple Search to your search bar and use it any time. To add Ripple to your list of search engines, download the extension and start searching. And if you’re not using Firefox, download it here.
Thanks to our wonderful IT department, FreeRice.com is blocked here at work so I can’t add a screenshot. I’ll update this post later when I’m at the house. Anyway, the premise of this site is pretty cool. You are shown a word and 3-4 possible definitions. If you select the right definition, 10 grains of rice are donated to someone in need. If you get it right, you’ll be shown another word and they slowly get harder. If you get it wrong, another, slightly easier word is shown. An easy way to get around this is a nifty tool called the Internet. There are a few online dictionaries out there to help you with the answers and donate rice. Not as simple as Ripple.org but you might learn a thing or two at FreeRice.com.
Over at TheHungerSite, you can simply click on a button, and free food will be donated via sponsors. 1.1 cups of food per click (according to the website, that equals ~50,000,000 cups of food annually). You can also shop from a cool selection of gifts and even more food will be donated. Remember, Christmas is just around the corner. After you click to donate, there are 5 other tabs at the top of the page. They are:
www.thebreastcancersite.com (provides ~5,600 mammograms per year)
www.thechildhealthsite.com (helps ~620,000 children annually)
www.theliteracysite.com (donates ~274,000 books annually)
www.therainforestsite (protects ~419,000,000 sq. ft. annually)
www.theanimalrescuesite.com (provides ~34,000,000 bowls of food annually)
Some other good click-to-donate sites include:

Check ‘em out and get to clicking. It will go to a good cause and you’ll feel better about helping others.
