A Tale of Two Dads

These two stories couldn’t be any different. It’s mind blowing to me the difference between these two men…one a real man and one a waste of a person.

The first story came across [tag]Digg[/tag] about 2 days ago. It was about a father/soldier who surprises his daughters at school. He was wrapped up in a big [tag]Christmas[/tag] package as their principle read a letter from him apologizing that he couldn’t make it home from [tag]Iraq[/tag] for the holidays. Check out the video at Breitbart.tv and just watch the reactions on his daughters faces when they open the gift.

It’s priceless. Their expressions speak volumes about the importance of their father in their lives. I just hope that I have the same effect on the lives of my [tag]daughter[/tag] (and other future children). You don’t have to go to war to show your daughters or children that you love them. You just have to put them first and humble yourself to them. Once you do that, you’ll see how great a father and husband you can be.

Then, just about a day later, a story come up titled Dad tortures 2-year-old with live snake, hot sauce, air gun. Of course I clicked through to the video and was shocked at was I heard. Click through for the video.

Here it is…. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Z05vGjeWM&eurl=http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=14534[/youtube]

What went wrong here? How could these men be so different? Not sure if [tag]James Flick[/tag] can be called a man when you treat a 2 year old that way. A 2 YEAR OLD! He had the audacity to tell the police that his son fell down the stairs. Give me a break.

I’m fully aware that there are 2 sides to every story, but in this case I can’t imagine that the other side has anything good to say. If you read any of the comments on Digg you’ll soon get the idea that I’m not alone in my thinking. The folks on Digg can be pretty outspoken and rightfully so in this case.

We should all pray for this little guy and hope that a real man comes into his life. Maybe then he’ll have a chance to grow up knowing how to be a real man and the right way to treat people.
