My wife and I had our 18 week O.B. appointment this morning. Neither one of us is very patient so we had to find out the sex of the baby. We found out with Olivia so we had to find out for this one.
Drum roll please………
IT’S A GIRL!
Yep, that’s right…having another little girl!
How much estrogen can flow through one house? I’m definitely out numbed now!
I know I have mentioned that I wanted a little boy, but I can’t tell you how excited I am about having another pig-tailed cutie running around the house.
Like a typical male, the first things I said was, “Now I have to pay for two weddings!”. The ultrasound nurse laughed and told us that ALL fathers make some comment about weddings when they find out the sex of the baby. It’s either, “Man I have to pay for a wedding” or “Yea - no wedding for me!”. Now I have two of ‘em to pay for!
The nurse was trying to get a profile picture of my baby daughter but she was acting shy and was facing away from the ultrasound. We were trying to see if we could get her to move, but nothing worked. I told my wife that she should have had a small amount of coffee this morning to get the baby moving. The nurse suggested drinking orange juice since it had some sugar and would probably have the same effect.
Everything checked out and seems to be progressing along very well. They weighed her at 10 ounces. All four chambers of her heart were well formed and it was pumping around 150 beats per minute. The nurse also checked her head shape and size. She even checked for fluid on the brain. Everything was healthy and seemed to be on track. She measured out to be 18 weeks and 4 or 5 days. (Just a little ahead of schedule)
At least we’ll save money on clothes since she can wear all of Olivia’s old clothes…Wait, what am I saying?…That probably won’t happen…I’m sure my wife will want to buy her all new clothes!
Dads, if you have a little girls then you know what I’m talking about when I say, Nothing makes you feel more like a real man than the color pink!
Congratulations. We have a son and my wife really wants a little girl. We’re working hard trying to make one. Although, my wife isn’t too confident given that my two brothers and my sister all have two boys. I’m confident we can break the boy cycle.
lol - congratulations! I was crackin’ up about the hand-me-downs, but have to confess that I have LOADS of outgrown boys’ clothes up in my attic. Now if I can just get my hubby to go up and GET them, they might come in handy.
Hey - haven’t you heard? It takes a self-assured man to wear pink - I bet you’ll sport it well with your girls.
Good luck warding off the boys when they get older - THAT’S when we’ll have to bust out some Cuervo.
Congratulations! We’re having a girl too (due in June). I think we’re going to have our hands full.
Good show!
Glad to hear everything checks out. Boys can wear hand-me-downs. Daughters can’t be seen in such things.
Thanks everyone for your kind words!
@Jason: I wish you the best of luck! Girls are wonderful and they have a way of turning you into a lover of pink and all things girly.
@Dette: You’re right…I’m in denial about her and boys in the future. Think my wife will let me buy a shotgun when she starts to date?
@Jeremy: We’re not far behind you guys! It will be fun to share our stories.
@Morethan: My NEW baby girl already has new clothes! Might as well donate all the old clothes because she probably won’t wear any!
Congrats Tyler. Just another female on the planet who will adore you! Nice! I want to have a girl next go around. That would make everything complete!
Enjoy!
