Pregnancy Week 31: She Buys Me Beer
Not only is my wife awesome because she’s letting me buy a new HDTV, but she also buys me beer while pregnant. What else can a man ask for?
First, let me say that I don’t MAKE her buy me beer. It just so happens that she’s making a stop at the store when I’m low on beer. Is that wrong? I’m usually towing our daughter around and it’s just easier for her to stop than for me to dodge all the candy with a toddler.
When she was pregnant with Olivia, I always made sure and buy my own beer, but things change soooo much when you have kids. It was so easy for me to stop on my way home and pick up some more beer, but if you have kids, a “quick” stop at the store is anything but quick.
I would think that people would see her buying beer and say “Well, that must be for her husband…she wouldn’t drink during pregnancy”…but I’m not the one pregnant actually buying beer.
I fully realize that it not only puts her in an awkward social situation, it reinforces the fact that I’m able to enjoy an adult beverage (or two…who doesn’t with kids right?) in the evenings and she can not.
So I have to give my wife a big “THANK YOU!” for buying me beer and making me a very happy man…especially those times when your mom comes over.

Your wife sounds like a keeper. And I’d love to tag along to watch the looks of people in the store. She should just turn around and shout to everyone, “It’s a BEER belly, alright?!?”

I agree with Literal Dan sounds like you have a keeper! Having a wife wiling to not only spend the big bucks on the HDTV but also beer…geez! You know though I don’t know if my wife would get the beer that I wanted unless I was very explicit and when I go to get beer, I don’t always have a plan for what I want…call me fickle or maybe a person willing to try new things! Kudos to your wife for such support!
