The other day my wife found out that Costco is now carrying the Lilly Pulitzer Minnie dresses. Want to guess where we went Sunday afternoon?
Costco is only carrying the Minnie dresses and there are limited sizes and styles. Seeing that Lilly Pulitzer is a pretty high-end clothing company, I’m guessing that the dresses Costco had were from an older collection (oh my!). Also, the dresses only ranged from about 18 months to 4 years.
Luckily for me…I think…my wife found 3 dresses that fit O pretty well. The Lilly dresses are pretty classic looking and they will most certainly be worn by my niece and new baby. We should be able to get our money’s worth out of them. The good thing about getting them from Costco is they cost MUCH less than buying them elsewhere.
I can’t tell if Costco will be selling the dresses on a regular basis. Their website doesn’t show any clothing which makes me think that their inventory turns over pretty quickly in that department.
If you have a daughter or niece (and a Costco membership) head over there and see if your Costco has any of the dresses left. You’ll get a great deal on some great dresses and you just might surprise your wife! <-- You’ll look like a great dad who’s in-the-know!
And don’t worry if you’ve never heard of Lilly Pulitzer. Your wife most certainly has and you can learn more about Lilly so you’ll know what you’re talking about.
Hi Tyler.
When I first read this blog post, I felt a sense of detachment. Now looking at it a second time, I know why. We had two children (we believe they were girls) that were lost during ectopic pregnancies.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy for you and what you are experiencing with your little girl. I’m just sad that my girls didn’t make it here to be with us. I work for a clothing company, and whenever I see a cute little dress or top, I think of my girls and get sad. Then I think of my boys and thank the Universe for ALL of my children. I am so grateful.
Peace,
Joey

I have a bit of wistfulness as well concerning girl clothes. My two daughters are 15 and 12, and spent most of their growing-up at their mom’s house after we divorced eight years ago. I missed out on a whole lot of time with them when they were little.
I’m happy for you that you have a great opportunity to see your little sweeties dressed up in their best for years to come. Enjoy it!
@Babbo: I really appreciate your comment…it reminds me of why it’s great to be a father and a daddy blogger. Your boys are lucky to have such a great and thankful father.
@Tom: Some days I’m not sure what to think about having two girls…I try not to take it for granted and hope that I’ll be around to see them grow up.
I’m excited that a Costco will finally be opening not too far from us later this year, and at the same time, I’m a little bewildered and lost when it comes to little girls fashion. Heck, I’m a lot bewildered when it comes to middle-aged mens fashion! My little one is only five months old, but when her clothes start becoming more than just spit and drool collectors, maybe this Lilly Pulitzer stuff will help me out.
@Kevin: Oh - I’m with you about the fashion. I leave that all up to the wife
If I were to dress my daughter everyone would know that I did it…but she is starting to *tell* us what she wants to wear and she’s only interested in wearing dresses these days. I think she’d wear them to bed if she could!
