Pictures Of Life With Kids: Parenting Behind The Scenes Part 2

by Tyler Wainright on September 30, 2008

This is part 2 of my Pictures Of Life With Kids: Parenting Behind The Scenes photography project. If you missed the first part and the kick off of the series, be sure to check it out here. This is a project, for all parents, to capture life with your kids in a different way. The challenge is to photograph life with kids without including any live faces in the image. That’s why I’m calling it “parenting behind the scenes” since the photographs should show things that are in your life because of your kids. This is a great way to remember all the little things that make kids wonderful. It will encourage you to photograph things that you might forget yet are still very important to being a parent.

Here’s my second set of pictures for the project. The first picture shows our freezer that is full of frozen breast milk. That stuff is called “white gold” in our house since it is so important and invaluable to our new baby girl. The second picture is a close up of some pink roses that my wife bought our oldest daughter since her favorite color is pink and apparently she “loved them”. I’m beginning to believe that anything pink came directly from princess land. And in the last picture you see a head full of blond hair as my oldest daughter swings on the playground at her school.

The Project Is Spreading! Thank you!

I was excited when a few fellow bloggers decided to take on the challenge of the project and post their own pictures of life with their kids.

Tom over at Being Michael’s Daddy took part in the project when he posted some pictures of his life with his son Michael.

Vincent from The Dad Jam also took part in the project. He posted some pictures that show what life is like for him as a dad.

And just the other day, Treemama from Under The Big Blue Sky took part in the project when she posted a great picture of tea time with her daughter. She liked the idea so much that she even started a set on Flickr for her pictures <-- You have to go check them out!

Want To Be Part Of The Project?

It’s easy to take part in the project! All you have to do is keep taking pictures like you normally would but keep and eye out for some of the other things in your life that happen because our your kids. Photograph those little things and post them to your blog! It’s that simple! When you start looking around for things to photograph you’ll soon realize that there are so many things in your life that you don’t want to forget. I want you to share them through this project!

When you post some photos that relate to this project, link back to me (Building Camelot) or to this post so I can keep up with who all is taking part in the project. That way I’ll be able to keep up with everyone and include links back to your site so others can see and enjoy all the great pictures you guys take.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a comment below or shoot me an email (dtwainright [at] gmail [dot] com) and I look forward to hearing from you and I can’t wait to see the pictures you guys come up with.

  • Thanks for mentioning my entry! I like your "white gold" photo... we tried that with our first child, but he didn't like it, so we haven't tried it with our second... she's only getting "breast-direct" at the moment, although that makes it a bit more inconvenient for my wife!
  • @Vincent: My daughter is breast-direct 99% of the time right now but we have to bank as much as we can so she'll have some when she starts day care in a couple of weeks. She has taken the bottle a couple of times but she much prefers the fresh stuff. No worries about the mention - glad to have you as a part of the project.
  • That rose is breathtaking!
